1999-Current                              Spectacular Event Center Catering Company

Spectacular Event Center Catering Company.  An elegant three ballroom facility offering on and off premise catering services to the greater Bangor area.   Providing customers with a friendly and elaborate place to celebrate with family, train and develop their company meetings, and a place to meet new friends with good food, good service and constantly improving our high standards.  Giving our customers great value with an above and beyond attitude at all times striving greatness to be the best we can be. 

2003- Current                              Land Developer & Construction Business

Stephen has a talent with a can do attitude for developing land projects.  He owns and operates heavy equipment along with his son, Stephen Arey, Jr.  Some of his projects consist of a 200 acre North Woods, Maine project of log sided camps to the latest 100 acre housing development in Bucksport, Maine scheduled for late fall 2007 for road building.   

1994-2002                              Maine Wedding Association

The Maine Wedding Association was created as a Sales & Marketing Company which created and produced more than 30 successful Bridal Shows in three cities; Bangor, Augusta & Portland.  This company, also, published Maine’s first state-wide “Wedding Directory” of professionals offering products and services to enhance special events like never before.  Setting a standard of excellence for wedding professional to abide by using a code of ethics. 

The Maine Wedding Association was developed as a valuable and trusted informational resource for newly-engaged brides & grooms-to-be and their families to help guide them in their wedding planning.  This guide, also, became an important tool for meeting planners in search for professional vendors with services and products to enhance their special events. 

1993-1999                                Spectacular Events

Spectacular Events was established as a Disc-Jockey Entertainment, Event Planning & Decorating Company servicing all of Maine.  We incorporated authentic themed props focused on Corporate businesses and conventions.  Much of our work was at the Samoset Resort, Augusta Civic Center & Bangor Civic Center along with many other event halls along the way.    We entertained all types of parties from Brownville Jct. to Portland with tuxedo style and became the first Disc Jockey duo to established a new formal and audience participation trend.  Our Philadelphia experiences taught us much about large venues, corporate ways of thinking and professional expectations to succeed.  

1990-1993                                  Balloon Events, Inc.

Moved our young family to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania purchasing an existing special event company called Balloon Events, Inc. (An education of a life time)  Prepared and set up decorations working in many five star hotels and Atlantic City Casinos decorating for large corporate conventions and special events along with a balloon & floral delivery service throughout the south Philadelphia area. 

1985-1989                                  Balloon Designs by Jane

Created a new decorating company called “Balloon Designs by Jane”.  This was the beginning of using Jane’s creativity proposing some new big ideas to the event world.  Little by little, job by job, and phone call after phone call drumming up customers that needed our expertise offering a different way to decorate and enhance a party!!!  Created balloon décor and floral centerpieces for weddings and holiday parties.  

1983- 1999                                           Music Express  

Established a duo Disc Jockey Entertainment company.  Performed for an average of 50 gigs a year.  Performing for Weddings, Public Dances, Anniversaries, School Dances and Fund Raisers.

1979-1989                                             Orthodontic Assistant

Jane worked for Dr. Irving Paul, D.D.S. for 11 years as his assistant. Responsible for customer service, lab work fabricating retainers, developing and taking Panoramic X-Rays, making molds of patients mouths, assisted with consultations, billing and filing. 

1972 - 1990                   St. Regis Paper Company

Stephen worked in the maintenance and Pipe Fitters department for St. Regis Paper Company.  Being surrounded by many multi-skilled workers enhanced his skills making him a highly skilled laborer able to create, build and fix anything.
